Keith Mattison

It is with deep sadness that we say farewell to our dear colleague and friend Keith Mattison. Keith has been fighting a lung infection for some time and passed away peacefully on Thursday morning.

Keith Mattison While all the FTI staff and delegates Keith has touched in the past 30 years will mourn his passing, we also need to celebrate his life as a very talented individual who lived life to the fullest.

One of the founder partners of FTI in 1989, Keith was a passionate educator with a wide body of knowledge and great communication skills. Many of our delegates have experienced first hand, his enthusiasm and passion for teaching.
Keith was also an extremely talented musician, both jazz piano and as an organist in the Cape Town Orchestra as well as being a choir master. He has been an avid sailor for years, captaining the FTI Flyer and many delegates will remember an afternoon cruise during or after a course with Keith.

Our deepest sympathy to Ruth and the family at this sad time. Keith, thank you for being part of our lives and may the wind always be at your back.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Constantia on 21 July at 3.00pm, followed by refreshments at the Constantia Cricket Club Clubhouse

FTI in a nutshell

Faculty Training Institute is a leading provider of training courses and related services to organisations across Southern Africa.

We have our own training premises in Cape Town and Johannesburg, but more than half of our business is conducted on-site at our clients, and we use conference facilities in other centres.

Our market niche is  to provide training at the intersection of technology and business, where business value can be unlocked.  Our typical course delegates include business analysts, systems analysts, enterprise architects, project managers and testing specialists. Our value-added services are aimed at helping companies improve capacity in these areas.

We are passionate about developing human potential. Our ethics and integrity are unquestioned.  We are unswerving in our aim to deliver enduring value to all of our stakeholders.  With hundreds of leading corporate clients, and thousands of delegates trained in more than 2 decades in the business, we can help you and your company to new levels of efficiency,  performance and success.

FTI was wholly acquired by the EOH group in 2012 and forms part of its Human Capital Management business unit.

Our Business Ethos

We set ourselves very high standards, and we constantly strive to:

  • Offer practical training programmes, supported by value-added services, that will offer enduring value to our delegates and the companies they work for
  • Use the best possible lecturers, staff and consultants, who are experienced, knowledgeable, qualified and above all, who subscribe to our proudly-held value system
  • Build a strong trust-relationship with our clients and delegates, always with an eye on long-term benefits rather than short-term gains or profits
  • Engage in world-class work practices that focus on transferring knowledge, and developing passionate, competent practitioners
  • Ensure that we remain at the leading edge of our chosen disciplines, without losing touch with our core focus of developing practical workplace skills that are immediately usable.

While we are happy to engage at many levels, our preferred relationship is to build strong partnerships between ourselves, our client companies and our delegates (practitioners)  to drive out long term value for all stakeholders. Many of our longstanding clients have been using us regularly for more than 20 years!

We develop and own almost all of our courseware and other intellectual property, regularly benchmarking these against international standards and professional bodies.  We are therefore uniquely positioned to offer highly customised, focused interventions of a global standard to our clients.
