Train the Trainer

Achieve more confidence as a trainer by learning how to present, facilitate, coach and motivate delegates

Course Overview

The objective of this programme is to equip facilitators and trainers of all disciplines with the knowledge and skills to communicate more effectively, and to develop positive human relations when interacting with delegates.

On completion of this highly interactive programme, and through practice in the workplace, you will be better equipped to deal with different situations in a training environment and you will have a greater understanding of how to train, coach, motivate and grow delegates to their full potential. You will gain the insight and skills to achieve these objectives by understanding and practicing the principles of skills transfer.

You will achieve more confidence in the training arena which will benefit both you and your organisation.

Course Objectives:

The minimum measurable outcomes that you can expect as a delegate are:

  • Developing enhanced and more strategic communication skills
  • Presenting yourself more effectively and professionally  
  • Developing positive attitudes towards yourself and your delegates
  • Knowing and practicing the fundamentals of coaching
  • Becoming more flexible in all situations
  • Understanding the principles of adult learning
  • Choosing a training venue and ensuring correct room layout
  • Demonstrating the correct use of visual aids and equipment
  • Overcoming disruptive behaviour
  • Knowing the difference between the Coach, Trainer and Facilitator  
  • Understanding different learning styles and design a training session around them.

Course Delivery

Facilitator-led sessions where you will be involved in presenting, training, facilitating, coaching and motivating other delegates throughout the three days.

You will be individually coached to meet the course objectives.

All delegate interventions are placed on video for training purposes and for your future reference.

Given the highly practical and interactive nature of the programme, you will be expected to prepare in the evenings for the following day.

Course Assessment

Although there are no formal assessments, such as exams and tests, to earn a certificate of attendance you are required to:

  • Participate in formative assessments which are conducted during the training through personal one-on-one coaching, questionnaires and observations.
  • Participate in summative assessments which are conducted at the end of the training in the form of exercises and role-plays to test your understanding and the skills developed.
  • Attend all 3 course days

  • Communicating effectively in word usage, vocal quality, listening and body language
  • Creating a better image
  • Building rapport with delegates
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Formatting training sessions
  • Coaching methods
  • Developing memory tools
  • Questioning techniques
  • Facilitation skills
  • Using adult learning techniques
  • Using presentation aids
  • Designing visual aids
  • Sharing positive observations to motivate delegates

Course Prerequisites

No prior experience is required.
