Become PMP® certified and gain a qualification that is accepted worldwide. This intensive short-course prepares you for the examination.

Course Objectives:

The primary aim of the course is to provide project managers wishing to write the PMP® exam with a structured preparation forum and a mutual network of support. The sessions are structured so that specific areas of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), which forms the basis of the exam, are covered comprehensively.

Course Overview

The Project Management Institute (PMI®) is an independent body that develops and promotes standards of practice within the project management industry. PMI provides its independent Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification of project managers as part of its role in setting industry standards for the profession. The aim of the PMP certification is to provide assurance that a person delivering project management services meets independently verified standards of practice.

The pre-requisites to becoming a PMP Certificant are:

Thereafter, certification is maintained by earning and submitting evidence of continued professional development (CPD) and practice in 3-year cycles.

In South Africa, as elsewhere, the ability of individuals and organisations to offer PMP®-backed project management services is a competitive advantage in a rapidly growing market. In order to assist professionals in distinguishing themselves from their competitors, FTI provides this structured PMP exam preparation course based on the PMI standards and other publications.

Course Delivery

The course comprises instructor-led training, readings, exercises and practice exam questions.

Course Prerequisites

The course itself has no pre-requisites but eligibility to write the Exam and gain certification is strictly prescribed. If one intends to take the exam, it is critical to ensure that you have completed sufficient hours of project management activities to be eligible for PMP® Certification

Course Assessment

Since this course is intended to prepare delegates for the PMI® qualifying exam, there is no assessment. Delegates will proceed to the PMP® exam after this course, as soon as they feel ready to do it.

Course Accreditation

FTI is a PMI® Registered Education Provider and this course delivers 30 PDU’s as defined by the Institute

Faculty Training Institute was approved as an Education & Training Provider with the ISETT SETA in January 2003. FTI is currently in the process of applying for full accreditation, which depends on the future structure of SAQA and the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). FTI is also actively engaged with various Standards Generating Bodies (SGBs) in ISETT to develop standards and qualifications in selected areas.

This course falls into a category loosely defined by SAQA as ‘vocational short courses’ because it requires less than a year’s full-time study.

Academically and intellectually, the course is conducted at senior undergraduate level, which would equate to level 5-6 on the NQF.
