FTI graduates take top honours in Business Analysis programme

Published: 2015-01-08

Faculty Training Institute (FTI) recently held a graduation ceremony in KZN, which saw top honours awarded to a quarter of the professional business analysts enrolled on its Certificate Programme in Business Analysis (CPBA). “The excellent results achieved by delegates on the rigorous programme is a testament to their full commitment and work ethic and fully validates the continued investment in running this programme again in the coming months,” says Frank, Biesman-Simons, BA Programme Manager at FTI.

FTI’s CPBA programme, which is carefully designed to develop complex skills and in-depth knowledge of the main business analysis tools and techniques, is well established in the business hubs of Cape Town and Johannesburg. “The part-time programme has been growing in popularity in the KZN region since it was first launched there in 2010 and the seventh iteration of the programme is scheduled to commence again in April 2015,” says Biesmans-Simons.

“With the rapid growth of technology and the knowledge age in which we live, there is greater emphasis placed on people being able to gather, create, produce, evaluate, capture and analyse information. These skills are fundamental for all activities in a business analysis context,” says Biesmans-Simons. “The programme teaches business analysts how they can add demonstrable business value, which requires a widening of focus in projects, and the application and use of business analysis tools and techniques.”

According to Helene Foster of Momentum, one of those who graduated with distinction and was top of the class, the value of the programme comes from being able to take the skills developed on the highly practical course and apply it immediately in the workplace.

Mohammed Cassiem of Save Group, who passed with merit, has aspirations of transitioning from a career in finance to Information Technology and says that the course brings him a step closer to his ideal role of a SAP consultant. “The greatest learning on the course was understanding the art and science of business analysis, I found the interaction with other business analysts on the course invaluable.”

“Business Analysis is one of the fastest-growing careers in the world and offers rich rewards for multi-skilled individuals who effectively combine business knowledge, technological literacy, and strong interpersonal communications skills to help organisations specify the requirements for modern business systems,” says Biesman-Simons.

FTI’s five-month Certificate Programme in Business Analysis commences on 10 April 2015.

FTI will also be launching its Certificate Programme in Project Management Practice in KZN on 14 May 2015. The comprehensive part-time programme is aimed at people who work with projects that involve business or systems-change and provides the tools and techniques essential for today’s multi-skilled Project Manager.
