Company profileFaculty Training Institute is a Proprietary company, registered in South Africa. From our small beginnings as a partnership of lecturers offering part-time training in Cape Town, it has grown to become a substantial and influential organisation at the heart of skills development in critical knowledge skills in South Africa. Core BusinessFTI's main business is skills development, but to stereotype us as a 'training company' would be to underestimate the value that we contribute to company and delegate alike. Our targeted skills domains lie at the intersection of Technology and Business, at the point where organisations can maximise value. The kinds of skills we focus on include:
Products And ServicesWe offer training courses aimed at developing the skills of delegates in our target markets. We also offer value-added services that allow organisations to derive better return on their training investment. Training Courses
More information can be obtained from our Course Calendar and Course Portfolio Pages Professional ServicesOur value-added services are designed to help organisations ensure that they obtain enduring value from training, whether this be by helping them select the correct delegate, or by ensuring that the work environment has evolved to support the high-end training that we deliver. These services, which are described in more detail elsewhere on this site, include:

Our flexible delivery model means that we do a substantial amount of training on-site at large corporates, and selected courses are available in other centres. Selected courses are already available as on-site options outside of South Africa, and our international expansion plans will see public courses offered from 3Q 2010. Our peopleFTI prides itself on the quality of its administrative and academic staff. While academic credentials and ability are important, we recruit staff primarily for their passion, professionalism and team spirit. Our administrative staff are responsible for the behind-the-scenes running of courses. Since part of our ethos is to challenge delegates to push the boundaries of their own capabilities, training can be a stressful process, especially when assignments and exams come around. Their job is to ensure that our delegates experience the best possible experience while they are on our training courses, and they need to be strict but fair and caring when doing this. They all subscribe to FTI's Code of Ethics and Value System. We have people to handle
Like most busy, growing companies, we don't always get it right, but we are frequently complimented on how helpful and caring our admin staff are, especially at one of our many graduation parties! Our academic staff are very special people indeed. Since our courses are much more than a series of lectures, and are very practical in nature, our academic staff need to be able to walk-the-walk, as well as talk-the-talk. They are not only great facilitators and teachers, but they are able to coach, advise and mentor delegates as they complete their practical work. Since a key objective of our training approach is to develop delegates who have the self-confidence and knowledge to apply their skills when they leave us, they have been carefully coached to 'facilitate learning' rather than 'teach' . Our more experienced academic staff fill a number of roles, including
All academic staff need to undergo a thorough accreditation process, and our ongoing quality monitoring systems ensure that they are continually improving the quality and consistency of our educational programmes The consulting staff in our Professional Services Division are experienced practitioners, drawn from our academic staff, and practitioners from industry. We do not body-shop. Instead, all resources are fully accredited in the products and services that they are consulting in, whether they are an Accredited FTI Performance Coach, a Competency Assessor, a Methodology Specialist or a Course Developer.
