Enterprise (Strategy) Analysis

This is a BABOK® aligned course that focusses on problem and strategy analysis. These crucial activities –which are typically undertaken before a project is initiated–can help assure the project’s success. Attendees of this hands-on practitioner workshop will gain an overview of Enterprise (Strategy) Analysis. They will get a chance to practise the theory during the course, and will be provided with a practical, succinct and useful course manual which they can refer to after the course.

Who should attend?

This course is well suited for anyone needing to understand how to undertake strategic business analysis. No previous experience of strategic business analysis is needed. Since the course is aligned to the IIBA® BABOK® v3 ‘Strategy Analysis’ knowledge area, it will also be of interest to organisations aligning to IIBA® standards and those seeking certification in future. Typical delegates include: Business Analysts, Consultants, Requirements Engineers, Business Systems Analysts, Product Owners, Requirements Manager

Course Information

Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements, however the course will be of most value to practitioners with some existing experience of business analysis who are looking to broaden their knowledge.
Delivery and Assessment
This course is run in collaboration with Blackmetric, and is run by Adrian Reed. Blackmetric are and IIBA® Endorsed Education Provider, and this is an IIBA® endorsed course.

It is hands-on, and interactive, and there will be many opportunities to practice techniques. Where necessary, feedback will be provided by the course facilitator.
Learning Outcomes
After successfully attending and completing this interactive and hands-on workshops, delegates will:
  • Understand what Enterprise (Strategy) analysis is, why it is important and where it fits in a typical project lifecycle
  • Know the key steps and tasks involved
  • Understand how to use elicitation and investigation techniques to analyse the current state
  • Have practiced creating a 'fishbone diagram' to uncover and diagram root causes
  • Understand how to define business outcomes using the balanced business scorecard
  • Be able to assess and categorise risk
  • Understand how to assess a gap and suggest potential solutions
  • Know the key components of a compelling business case
  • Appreciate how these key tasks relate to BABOK® v3.0
