Practical
TOGAF® 9

Delivered in partnership with The Open Group

This intensive five day short course covers the body of knowledge required for TOGAF 9 certification. It is both practical and theoretical and prepares you for the independent online exam, which will qualify you as a TOGAF® certified enterprise architect.

Who should attend?

Any senior individuals or managers working in the Enterprise Architecture (EA) discipline, as well as IT, Programme, Project and Portfolio Managers and Business and Systems Analysts. If you need to initiate or manage EA functions or if you are a consultant in outsourcing, ERP implementation and technology infrastructure, this course is suitable for you.

Course Information

Entry Requirements

There are no specific or strict entry requirements, but we highly recommend that:

  • You are in a senior position
  • You have at least five years working experience and exposure to IT and business
  • Or

  • You have a university level qualification
  • And

  • You need to be able to apply and practise the skills learnt on the course to a role that involves enterprise level architectural thinking and responsibility
Delivery and Assessment

We use a blend of face-to-face facilitator-led seminar sessions and individual and group exercises built around a comprehensive case study.

To gain an FTI Certificate of Attendance, you will need to:

  • Attend all five full day sessions
  • Actively participate in activities, discussions and feedback sessions so that you learn by practicing techniques, sharing knowledge and experience, and completing exercises in a simulated environment
  • Do peer reviews and assessments
  • Complete some preparatory reading in the evenings

If you complete and pass this FTI course, you must write and pass an independent online examination administered by Prometric, on behalf of the Open Group, to become a TOGAF® certified enterprise architect. We recommend you do this as soon as possible after attending the short course.

The cost of registration for delegates who pass the exam and a voucher for one sitting of the exam is provided as part of the course fee.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, you will have detailed knowledge and skills in the theory, practice and techniques of enterprise architecture. You will understand the benefits, role and scope of EA and be able to:

  • Identify the stages, lifecycle, purpose and outputs of an EA method
  • Plan an EA project at a high level
  • Identify the stakeholders in the EA
  • Understand the TOGAF® Architecture Delivery Method (ADM), Phases and Activities.
  • Prepare key deliverables for selected phases in the ADM life cycle
  • Discuss the various reference models in TOGAF® (e.g. TRM, IIIRM) and their applicability
  • Understand the Enterprise Continuum, the role of a repository, the TOGAF® Content Framework and Meta Models
  • Facilitate inter-operability and re-use.
  • Debate the issues around Architecture Governance, Requirements Management and Architecture Capability

You will also be more prepared and better equipped to write the independent online examination.
