Our history is important to us and we feel our past contextualises our position as a reputable and established training institution in South Africa. Faculty Training Institute was founded in May 1989 by five visionary UCT (University of Cape Town) lecturers from the Department of Information Systems. We started with and delivered just two practical and professional programmes for the IT and Project Management industries, namely the Diploma in IS Management and the Diploma in Systems Analysis and Design.
From our early beginnings we have been a training institution that has been the first to do many things in the Business Analysis and Project Management space. We were the first training institution to identify a need for skills-based training in the IT, IS and Systems Analysis environment and to make these specialised certificate and professional programmes available for afterhours study. Another milestone for us was being the first local education provider to be endorsed by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®), and to hold Charter status.
Today we are a leading private training institute in the disciplines of Business Analysis, Quality Assurance and Testing, Project Management, Agile and Strategic Skills for Professionals. What really sets us apart are our institutional accreditations with professional bodies as well the MICT and Services Seta. We are an Endorsed Education Provider (EEP) with the IIBA® and we are a global registered education and training provider with the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and a registered education and training provider with Project Management South Africa (PMSA). In addition, we are an accredited ISTQB® training provider and a silver member of the Open Group Architecture Forum (TOGAF®).
Apart from our public schedule of extended programmes and short courses, our programmes can be run in-house at a premises that best suits your organisation, provided we have enough delegates. Our two NQF level 5 qualifications incorporating the National Certificate: Business Analysis Support Practice and the National Certificate: Project Management can also be run as inhouse learnerships.
Given that we are documenting our history, why not highlight our new short course ‘Writing Skills for Business Professionals’. Writing is a traditional form of communication but with new challenges for the professional of the Twenty-First century. In 2019 writing is as relevant as it was in 1989. We may live in a completely different world where traditional forms of communicating are underrated, but transferrable skills like writing are still essential for any knowledge professional. As Sir Andrew Sentance, Senior Economic Adviser to PwC, said:
‘By writing well, you can stand out from the crowd. There is too much poor writing in the business world.’
Why not sign up in May for our intensive short course ‘Writing Skills for Business Professionals’ and develop the techniques for writing concise and clear business documents.
