“I had the opportunity to attend a 3 day course presented by FTI (Faculty Training Institute) on Information and Data Modelling. Being fairly new in the field of Data and IT, this session really helped in building knowledge and understanding around the benefits of efficiently carrying out impact analysis and system maintenance to ensure risk is reduced when facilitating upgrades.

Working for a big organisation, these models also aid in bridging the communication gap, where there’s lack of common language for data-related projects/ discussions amongst business stakeholders, IT and analysts.

If you are working with data, I’d highly recommend you include this course.”

Completed Advanced Business Analysis Certificate Programme (AdBA) 2018

“I was a student at the FTI JHB Campus in 2017/2018 when I studied the NCBA / AdBA, and this was a pivotal moment in my career.   

At the time, my organisation (locally) had an idea of what the role of the BA was as opposed to our global BAs, and I was determined to learn the correct fundamentals as per the BA Body of Knowledge.   

Upon joining the course at FTI, the wealth of information and knowledge gained from the facilitators along with the course content, helped me blossom into a strong and confident BA.  I was promoted as Senior BA in my organisation and was afforded many opportunities to work on global initiatives. 

Since graduating from FTI, I soon became CBAP® Certified (2019), and earlier this year I achieved the IIBA® CBDA® certification as well.   

I now volunteer for the Membership Portfolio within the IIBA® SA Chapter, and I have started doing information sessions and an online study group to support other BAs in their pursuit of CBDA® (Certified Business Data Analytics). 

With the AdBA course content one has to manage their time effectively to achieve success.  They just have to have the right attitude and willingness to persevere.   

I juggled multiple work projects, international business travels, being a mother of two young boys and having to attend classes and still managed to submit all my assignments on time.  It is not impossible.  I encourage all who are considering the programme to join and to embrace the experience.
